Dalo Acres Devotional
Veterans Day: Honor in Quiet Places
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13
Here at Dalo Acres, we believe honor isn’t loud. It’s steady. It shows up before the sun, tends to others before itself, and keeps faith even when no one’s watching. That’s the kind of quiet strength we see in every veteran — and it’s the same kind of heart we try to live by here on the farm.
Each rescued horse, dog, and soul that finds its way here reminds us what sacrifice looks like. Many come to us scared, broken, or worn down — but they heal through patience, trust, and a little grace. The same way so many who’ve served must learn to heal when they return home.
On this Veterans Day, we pause to say thank you — not just in words, but in the way we live, care, and serve each day.
Whether you’re a veteran, a family member, or someone who’s simply thankful — we invite you to find a moment of stillness today. Watch the wind roll through the pasture. Pet an old horse. Call a friend who served. Let gratitude take root.
Because freedom — like faith, like love — is something we keep alive together.
