Junior’s Story: The Dog Who Started It All

Junior came to us when Dalo Acres was just a dream — a scrappy little dog who needed a second chance and a safe place to land. What none of us knew back then was how much we needed him too.

With his goofy grin, endless tail wags, and that classic “I know I’m in charge” attitude, Junior became the heart of Dalo Acres. He greeted every visitor, supervised every chore, and made sure everyone knew whose sanctuary it really was.

Every rescue after Junior was a nod to the life he lived — a life full of love, second chances, and the kind of loyalty only a dog can give.

The Day We Said Goodbye

Losing Junior in 2024 was one of the hardest days we’ve ever faced. After years of adventures, belly rubs, and doing what he loved most — being right by our side — his body just couldn’t keep up with his big heart.

He passed surrounded by his people, on the land he helped shape, knowing he was deeply loved. But even as we write this, the tears are still fresh. Because Junior wasn’t just our first rescue — he was ours.

And he always will be.
